Anti-doping framework in Spain

Spain combines the WADA World Anti-Doping Code, RD 641/2009 and Law 3/2013 AEPSAD (Spanish Agency for Health Protection in Sport).

Sanctioning procedure

  1. Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF) or missed whereabouts
  2. Notification to athlete, right to request B-sample analysis
  3. Hearing before AEPSAD
  4. Resolution with sanction (generally 4 years for serious violations)

TAS/CAS appeal

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne hears appeals against AEPSAD decisions. Deadline: 21 days. The award is final and binding except appeal to Swiss Federal Tribunal.
