Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Lexiel, before you start.

General

What is Lexiel and what is it for?

Lexiel is an AI platform specialised in Spanish law. It combines a case law search engine (BOE, CENDOJ, Constitutional Court), a judicial writing assistant, and a complete legal CRM (cases, clients, billing, deadlines). All in one place, designed for solo lawyers and law firms.

How is Lexiel different from ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is a general-purpose model that does not cite verifiable sources and has knowledge cutoff dates. Lexiel is connected in real time to the Spanish legal corpus (7,300+ sources), verifies all citations against official sources, and never fabricates case law. On the Bar Exam (144/145 questions), Lexiel scores 99.3% and 98.4% on the Judiciary Exam (253/257), vs 71% for ChatGPT.

Does it work only for Spanish law or also for LATAM?

Primarily Spanish law (Spain), but Lexiel also includes corpus for Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Chile and Peru. The Spanish corpus is the most complete (95,000+ legal provisions from official sources).

Do I need to install anything?

No. Lexiel works 100% in the browser. There is an optional plugin for Microsoft Word if you want to draft documents directly in Word with AI assistance.

Case law

Where does the case law come from?

From official sources exclusively: CENDOJ (official CGPJ database), BOE, Constitutional Court, and LATAM equivalents (verified federal legislation). Lexiel has over 130,000 sources and 2,590,000+ indexed provisions.

How often is the legal database updated?

Continuously. The indexing system updates the corpus automatically. New CENDOJ judgments and BOE amendments are incorporated periodically.

Can I search for case law from my autonomous community?

Yes. Lexiel includes judgments from all Superior Courts of Justice (TSJ) and Provincial Courts available on CENDOJ, plus the Supreme Court and Constitutional Court.

Pricing and plans

How much does Lexiel cost?

Basic: €89/month (€69/month annually). Professional: €129/month (€99/month annually). Team: €99/user/month (€79/month annually, minimum 2 users). All include a 14-day free trial.

Is there a trial period?

Yes, 14 days free with full access. A card is required to start the trial. Cancel any time at no cost.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. No lock-in, no penalty. You retain access until the end of the paid period.

Are there discounts for solo lawyers or newly qualified solicitors?

The Basic plan is designed for solo lawyers. For newly qualified solicitors and social projects, contact hello@lexiel.ai.

Security and privacy

Is my data secure?

Yes. AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit, 100% EU hosting, GDPR Art. 28 compliance with DPA available. Lexiel never trains its AI on your data.

Does Lexiel use my cases to train the AI?

No. Never. It is contractually prohibited and technically doesn't happen. Your information is always yours.

For law firms

Can I add multiple lawyers to my account?

Yes, with the Team Plan (minimum 2 users). Each member accesses cases according to their permissions, with a complete audit log.

Does Lexiel integrate with our practice management software?

Lexiel has a REST API and webhooks for custom integrations. Direct integrations with Wolters Kluwer, LexNET or A3 are on the roadmap. Contact us for enterprise integrations.

Is training included?

Yes. All plans include documentation, video tutorials and email support. The Team Plan includes an onboarding session with the Lexiel team.

For Individuals

Does Lexiel provide professional legal advice?

No. Lexiel provides informational guidance to help you understand the law that applies to your situation. It is not a substitute for a qualified lawyer. For important legal decisions (lawsuits, inheritances, high-value contracts), always consult a professional.

How is this different from ChatGPT for legal questions?

ChatGPT can fabricate law articles and court rulings that do not exist (hallucinations). Lexiel verifies every citation against official sources (BOE, CGPJ); if an article doesn't exist, it won't cite it. Additionally, Lexiel specializes in Spanish and Latin American law with 900,000+ indexed legal fragments.

Can I use Lexiel's answers in court?

No. Lexiel's answers are informational guidance, they have no procedural value. However, you can use Lexiel to prepare before talking to a lawyer: understand your rights, know legal deadlines, and know what questions to ask.

How much does a lawyer consultation cost vs Lexiel?

An initial lawyer consultation in Spain costs between €50 and €300 per hour. Lexiel costs €9.90/month (annual plan) and includes 50 queries per month, document analysis and legal calculators. That said, for complex cases involving more than €3,000, we always recommend consulting a lawyer.

What's the difference between the Personal (€9.90) and Basic (€69) plans?

The Personal plan is for citizens with occasional legal questions: legal chat, calculators, basic document analysis. The Basic plan is for professional lawyers: includes case management, invoicing, time tracking, AI-powered legal drafts, and advanced document RAG.
