Private prosecution

Participation of the victim or injured party in criminal proceedings as a prosecuting party, exercising criminal and derivative civil action. In Spain, private prosecution may be exercised independently of the Public Prosecutor. Distinct from public prosecution (any citizen) and accumulated civil action.
