The four grades

Contribution requirements

  • Under 31: 1/3 of time between age 16 and qualifying event
  • 31+: 5 years, at least 1/3 in last 10 years
  • Work accidents: no minimum contribution required

Recognition process

INSS petition → EVI medical report → INSS resolution (135 business days) → if denied: pre-judicial claim (30 days) → Labour Court → TSJ → Supreme Court.
