Legacy / Bequest

Testamentary disposition by which the testator attributes to a person (legatee) a specific asset or right from the estate, without needing to accept the estate as a whole or bear hereditary debts (except those specifically burdened). Differs from heir institution in that the heir receives a share of the net assets.
