Extinctive prescription

Extinction of actions and rights through the passage of the legally fixed time without exercising them. Unlike limitation (which operates by operation of law), prescription may be interrupted by acts of the holder or debtor's acknowledgment. General period: 5 years for personal actions (Art. 1964 CC).
